SIC a trollar - Suposta bactéria em marte e Alentejo

Pois bem pessoal, parece que a SIC andou a trollar o pessoal, dizendo que a vida poderia ter começado em Vide, no Alentejo, pois uma bactéria das águas termais era semelhante a uma bactéria encontrada em Marte.

Quando li isto fiquei tipo WTF... rapidamente fui ao site da NASA e não vi nada que falasse de uma bactéria em Marte. Aliás, não havia nada que fizesse referência à existência verificada de vida em Marte.

When, I saw this on news my 'no-sh*t' face was activated.
And, today, in my biology class we all discussed about fool this is.
So, I decided to talk about this intriguing topic.

They are saying that the current conditions in boiling springs on Alentejo, Portugal, are similar to the conditions that existed during the origin of life on Earth. This is big fat lie. Just look at that time. Oxygen didn't existed at that time (despite recent controversies). Unless SIC (one of the portuguese groups of media) & Alentejo's Company think there is no oxygen present in Alentejo. ()

Obviously, life had no origin in Alentejo. There was no Alentejo at the time, because for 4 billion years, the Earth's geology has changed considerably, including the continents which have joined and parted, sometimes causing numerous changes in geological way.

The interest in these baths is the high content of sulfur compounds. Since 4 billion years ago, the Earth was rich in sulfur. Not having time machines (what a shame), scientists study the places on Earth that are currently trying to understand how sulfur organisms live, nowadays, in these areas and speculate about those very primitive organisms could have lived in 'almost' similar conditions. That's it.

But these conditions exist in many other regions on Earth, for example in caves all over the world, where the microorganisms thrive. Not just in Portugal; not just in the U.S.; not just in Mars!

And as to the origin of life, the whole planet Earth was a huge "laboratory" for the emergence of life, and in some areas, such as the famous "primordial soup", the black smokers on the ocean floor, etc. are most likely for being called the 'source of life'.

For lots of time, they say that the "scientists believe". What?! It is one of the most common misconceptions.
In NASA site and other important scientific blogs, there are dozens of articles explaining the nature of science. Unfortunately, these journalists decided to troll all of us.

At one minute of the report, the journalist says that water in Vide only paralleled in some regions of the U.S. and Mars. This is such a nonsense, since in Mars there isn't liquid water.

At another time of the video, the reporter says: "(...) a bacterium that was detected only in the thermal waters of Vide and Mars," "(...) Vide is where in 2008 was also detected a bacteria, discovered on the planet Mars. " Again, what the hell? We did not detect any life on Mars, either bacteria or not!
We didn't detect any bacteria on Mars!

Although, then, what says NASA scientist, Steve Vance? Huh?

He says that the geology currently found in that area of Alentejo is simliar to what is thought to be necessary to create favorable conditions for the emergence of life as we know it (and when life began on Earth, today, it would be considered extremophile, which is an organism that thrives in physically or geochemically extreme conditions that are detrimental to most life on Earth.).
He also speaks of an machine to detect ethane and methane (which already exists on Mars), but only that.

I don't know if this report was passed on other outside countries, however, if it did, this is a proof that media is learning with Nomura.
